6 Minutes is all it takes

One of the least favorite sermons that many people want to hear is about ...TITHING! People get real touchy when you talk about their money. The problem is most people think that tithing is only about money when it actually involves the 3 T's: Time, Talent. and Treasure. In 1992 DC Talk released a song called "Time is..." In verse two the lyrics say, "Right now is the time that we gotta get wit' it The gift that He's given ain't just an exhibit But a tool that He's given us to use for His sake (For God's sake) And just as He's given, He can surely take The signs of the times are droppin' like flies The cries of the people around us imply They're lookin' for an answer that we already know But time is definitely on the go" Today I want to talk a little about the first T, Time. In our hectic world today it seems if there is one commodity that we are always running out of it is time. I don't have time to do it, I'll try to squeeze it it, etc. So how do we tithe our time? Tithing our time must be intentional! If you are one of those people who live by a daytimer or schedule you have to write it in. If you are like me and take the day as it comes you have to set reminders for yourself. Today that is exactly what I am doing. Every hour the alarm on my phone goes off and I stop and spend the next 6 minutes in prayer. I want to encourage you to try it. Now some of you might work in a factory and say how about that? Well at you 15 minute coffee break spend 12 minutes in prayer and at lunch spend 24 minutes in prayer and you will have tithed your time for the whole 8 hours. The Bible tells us in [Ephesians 5:15-16 NASB95] 15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil.

Let's Tithe our time! See if God won't bless you for it.
